How do I care for tooth-coloured restorations?

Tooth-coloured restorations, like fillings, crowns and veneers, are a fantastic way to enhance your smile while keeping it natural-looking. At Lumino Smiles Dental, we’re pleased to offer Pascoe Vale tooth-coloured dentistry that blends seamlessly with your teeth. However, these restorations still need a little TLC to look their best. Here’s some tips on how to care for them:

1. Brush, Floss and Practise Good Oral Hygiene

Brush twice a day with a soft-bristle toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Abrasive products can dull the surface of your restorations over time, so avoid harsh products, including charcoal toothpaste. We also recommend flossing daily, but be gentle around the edges of your fillings, crowns or veneers to prevent damage.

2. Be Cautious of Certain Foods

Avoid biting into hard or sticky foods like ice, hard candies or caramel, as these can chip or loosen your restorations. Be cautious with staining foods and drinks like coffee and curry. Although these restorations resist stains, consuming them too frequently can still affect their appearance.

3. Visit Your Dentist Regularly

Routine check-ups and cleanings are key to keeping your restorations and overall oral health in great shape. Your Pascoe Vale dentist can monitor for wear and make any adjustments if needed.

With a bit of care, your tooth-coloured restorations can keep your smile flawless for years.
