As a parent, you want what’s best for your child, including quality dental care. At Lumino Smiles, we realise that navigating how to pay for it may be difficult, so we want you to know we’re just a phone call away if you have questions.
Maybe you’ve heard of CDBS, the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, but you aren’t sure if your child is eligible for free dental care.
Let’s clear things up so you can rest easy, knowing you’re doing everything you can for your little one’s oral health.
What Is CDBS?
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a program sponsored by the Australian government; it’s designed to give eligible children basic dental services over two years. It’s part of the Medicare program, and pays up to $1,158 for routine preventive care, including exams, check-ups and x-rays.
Who Is Eligible?
Certain criteria must be met to qualify for CDBS coverage, including the following:
- Your child must be between the ages of 2 and 17 for at least one day of the calendar year.
- Your child must be eligible for Medicare.
- Your child must receive or have a parent who receives an Australian Government payment for at least part of the calendar year. This can include Family Tax Benefit Part A or other payments.
What Is Covered Under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
If your child qualifies for CDBS, our dental clinic will happily bulk-bill as long as they have funds remaining in their account.
Here are some of the services they can receive at no cost to you:
- Dental examinations and check-ups
- Dental x-rays
- Professional teeth cleaning
- Protective dental sealants
- Dental fillings
- Root canal therapy
- Extractions
