If you have healthy teeth, but you aren’t happy with a mild to moderate crooked smile, Invisalign clear aligners may be a great option for you.

The Invisalign system straightens your teeth without brackets and wires, which is perfect for those who do not want to draw attention to their orthodontics. With Invisalign, you wear clear, plastic aligners throughout the treatment course—virtually invisible aligners.

Who Can Wear Invisalign Clear Aligners?

Your Pascoe Vale dentist evaluates your oral health to make sure the Invisalign system will give you the smile you’ve been looking for. If Invisalign is not right for you—if you have a complex case, for example—your dentist may recommend traditional orthodontics.

In general, Invisalign tends to work best on mild to moderate alignment issues.

The Invisalign Process

If Invisalign is a good option for your orthodontics, your dentist takes impressions of your teeth, and Invisalign uses these impressions to craft clear aligners.

Every two weeks, you switch to a new aligner until you complete the treatment course. You should also wear your aligners for at least 22 hours each day—removing them to eat, brush, and floss.

The treatment course with Invisalign can last for a year or more, but your dentist will give you a more custom timeframe based on your unique orthodontic case.

Maintaining Your Straight Smile

Now that you have reached your smile goals, you want to maintain your straight teeth.

Your dentist designs a custom retainer to make sure your teeth stay in their straight positions. This retainer protects your investment and helps guard against orthodontic relapse.
